Chelsea set to make van Dijk move

Virgil van Dijk is at the top of Chelsea’s wanted list.

According to a report in The Telegraph the Southampton man is the first choice defender of Antonio Conte who has a £200m budget to spend.

Despite the ease of their Premier League title win Conte is well aware of how demanding next season will be as Chelsea attempt to defend the title and return to the Champions League.

Chelsea are prepared to test Southampton with an offer close to £60m to get the Dutch defender to head up their defensive plans for next season.

Southampton have said that they can resist any offer but it’ll be difficult to keep the player happy if a substantial pay rise is on offer alongside Champions League football.

Manchester City and Arsenal have also been linked with an interest in the Southampton skipper but a move to London and Champions League football would be hard for van Dijk to resist.
