Chelsea have completed the £33m signing of Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi on a five-year deal.

The Belgium international, who scored with his first touch on his international debut in the 4-0 win against Hungary last week, becomes incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte’s first signing at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian manager is looking to rebuild his new side this summer following their disastrous 10th-placed finish in the Premier League, and the 22-year-old attacker has become the first piece of the new jigsaw.

Batshuayi said: “I am delighted to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe and embark on the next chapter in my career.”

The striker, who becomes the third Belgian in the current squad alongside Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, has also followed in the footsteps of Didier Drogba, who moved to Chelsea from Marseille in 2004.

Batshuayi scored 23 goals in all competitions for the French club last term, as well as providing 10 assists.
