Chelsea have allowed a number of first team players to depart the club this summer.

Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly have all been sold by the Blues, while midfielder N’Golo Kante is set to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract.

Owner Todd Boehly and new manager Mauricio Pochettino are looking to overhaul the squad after a year of huge spending, during which the American splashed out more than £500 million on new signings.

Several other players are therefore now expected to depart Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks, but it appears that the Blues are desperate to keep hold of one of their young stars.

As per The Evening Standard, the west London outfit have offered defender Levi Colwill a new long-term contract.

The centre-back’s current deal is set to run until the summer of 2025, but he has attracted interest from other clubs in recent months and Chelsea are therefore keen to tie him down to a long-term deal.

Colwill has been offered a new deal with Chelsea

Colwill, 20, is a product of Chelsea’s youth academy but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Blues.

He has previously spent time on loan at Huddersfield Town, and spent last term with Brighton and Hove Albion, impressing for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

During his time with the Seagulls, Colwill made 22 appearances across all competitions including 17 Premier League matches.

The report claims that the defender will seek assurances from new manager Pochettino about his playing time for the upcoming season before signing a new deal.

Premier League champions Manchester City are said to be one of a number of clubs, along with Brighton, that are interested in signing Colwill permanently.

Pochettino, who will officially take charge of the club on July 3, is said to be a huge admirer of the young English defender.

Although Koulibaly has already left the club this summer, Pochettino will have the likes of Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile all competing for places in his back line during the upcoming season, which could limit Colwill’s opportunities.
