Chelsea team news: We predict Frank Lampard’s starting XI away against Everton this Saturday

Chelsea travel to manager-less Everton as they kick off this weekend’s Premier League action in the early kick-off on Saturday.

Frank Lampard’s first season in charge has been a successful one so far, as his Chelsea side find themselves in fourth position in the Premier League table.

However, last weekend saw them put in a below-par performance, suffering a 1-0 home defeat to London rivals West Ham United.

The Blues bounced back with a 2-1 home victory against Aston Villa, as Lampard made changes to his starting XI.

With a big three points needed against an Everton side who sacked their manager Marco Silva earlier this evening, we predict Lampard’s starting XI.

GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga

Sometimes doesn’t get the plaudits he deserves, Kepa barely puts a foot wrong for Chelsea and is a fantastic shot-stopper.

RB: Reece James

What a revelation James has been, the young full-back has been given his chance by Lampard and he has grabbed it with both hands. A true athlete who is making the right back position his own.

CB: Andreas Christensen

Christensen has not found himself part of Lampard’s plans for the majority of this season, but he regained his spot following the defeat to West Ham United.

CB: Kurt Zouma

Been a regular under Lampard following many seasons away on loan from the London club. Zouma will be certain to face the club he was playing at last campaign.

LB: Cesar Azpilicueta

Known simply as ‘Dave’ amongst Chelsea fans, the captain has recently lost his place to James at right back, but Lampard brought his experience captain back in at left back against Villa and the decision paid off.

CM: N’Golo Kante

Lampard has been desperate to see his midfield maestro Kante return from injury, and after sub appearances, the Chelsea boss was able to name the World Cup winner in his starting XI and is sure to once again on Saturday.

CM: Mateo Kovacic

We think it’s a straight coin toss between Kovacic and his midfield counterpart Jorginho for a place against Everton this Saturday. But given Kovacic’s more attacking talents against a struggling Everton, he should retain his place.

AM: Mason Mount

Mount has been a major part of Lampard’s fresh, young British-heavy Chelsea team. The attacking midfielder has received his first England caps off the back of his club performances.

RF: Willian

Willian has been in and out of Lampard’s starting XI, but we expect the Brazilian to keep his starting place away at Goodison Park on Saturday.

LF: Christian Pulisic

The USA international took a while to get going in a Chelsea shirt, but has started to get amongst the goals in the last few weeks.

ST: Tammy Abraham

Abraham has fully secured Chelsea’s number nine position ahead of Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi. Lampard will be very happy to have the England international back in his side.
