Chelsea are reportedly ready to turn down any bids for Spain international defender Marcos Alonso in the forthcoming week, according to the Daily Star.

The Premier League side, who have defeated Huddersfield Town and Arsenal in their opening 2018-19 league fixtures, could be offered bids for the full-back from Spanish rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid before the close of the European transfer window on August 31 (next Friday).

The 27-year-old, who has one international cap for his country, has already scored one goal and provided two assists in three appearances in all competitions for The Blues this season.

Alonso, who arrived at Stamford Bridge back in August 2016 following his reported £24m move from Serie A outfit Fiorentina, has netted 15 goals in 84 games overall for the club.

However, the report claims the Spaniard is attracting interest from the Madrid rivals back in his homeland, with both clubs considering late bids for the left-back before next Friday’s deadline.

Both sides are willing to splash out around £27m for Alonso’s services, but Chelsea are expected to turn down any offer(s) for the defender, as they cannot sign a replacement until the January market.

He is contracted at Stamford Bridge until June 2021.
