Chelsea’s pursuit of three new defenders could spell the end of one youngster’s time at the club, according to reports.

As per Fabrizio Romano, centre-back Levi Colwill could leave Stamford Bridge if there are new arrivals in defence.

The Blues are believed to have agreed a deal for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, with official confirmation of the transfer expected imminently.

That won’t stop Thomas Tuchel and Todd Boehly from pushing ahead on deals for both Nathan Ake and Presnel Kimpembe, though, according to reports.

Nathan Ake’s return to Chelsea could hinder Colwill’s progress

Tuchel lost both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen at the end of the season, and is keen to add to his squad, potentially at Colwill’s expense.

Romani claims that Southampton are one of the clubs interested in signing the 19-year-old if he does become available.

The Englishman impressed on loan for Championship side Huddersfield Town last term, playing 31 matches for the Terriers as they reached the play-off final.

That form had sparked rumours that the teenager may be given a chance to impress at Stamford Bridge this season, although it now appears that his Blues future depends largely on the club’s activity in the transfer market in the coming weeks.
