Chelsea’s top 3 stars over the international break

Antonio Conte is beginning to stamp his authority on this Chelsea team as they look to sustain a Premier League title challenge this season.

The Blues have been in irresistible form in the past few weeks, winning five league games on the spin, and not conceding a goal in any of them.

This has all happened after a tricky month which saw Chelsea lose at home to Liverpool and thumped away at Arsenal.

However, the Italian implemented a back three, and ever since then the Blues have been breath-taking going forward and remarkably solid defensively – the perfect recipe for a shot at the title.

Nonetheless, with the international break almost over, a number of Chelsea stars have been appearing for their country this fortnight, as they look to take their great club form into the international arena. But who has performed the best?

Here are THREE Chelsea players that have starred for their country in the last fortnight…

Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard replicated his sensational Chelsea form for his country as Belgium battered Estonia 8-1 in Brussels on Sunday.

The tricky winger netted the third as Roberto Martinez’ side ran riot over a side who have picked up just three points from their first four matches.

Tougher challenges will come, but for now Hazard and co sit top of Group H with 12 points from 12 as they look to get to Russia and improve on their quarter-final exit from the World Cup in Brazil.

Victor Moses

The star of the show for Nigeria this week was Chelsea’s in-form wing-back Victor Moses.

The 25-year-old scored a brace in their 3-1 win over Algeria, which was Nigeria’s second successive win in the group stages of World Cup qualifying and top of the standings.

Moses has been sensational at Chelsea this season since being used as a wing-back by manager Conte, and he’ll be key for Nigeria as well as they look to qualify for a third consecutive World Cup.

John Obi Mikel

Nigeria’s third goal came from the unlikely source that is John Obi Mikel, who has yet to appear under Conte at Chelsea this season.

Mikel captained the side to a comprehensive win over a decent Algeria team, and it could serve as a reminder to Conte of his ability given his strong and authoritative display in the middle of the park for Nigeria.

Whether he breaks into the Chelsea first team in the future remains to be seen, but he’s going to be an important part of whether or not Nigeria qualify for the World Cup in Russia in two years’ time.
