Conte should give these 3 Chelsea players a chance vs Manchester City

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea take their seven-match winning streak in the Premier League to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Saturday.

The Blues have been reborn under the Italian since he switched to a back three after their 3-0 defeat to Arsenal on September 24, and have since then won all seven of their league games, and conceded just the one goal.

Their 2-1 win at Tottenham in Saturday’s late kick-off saw them reclaim top spot from City after they beat Burnley earlier in the day, but both teams will test themselves against a genuine title challenger at the Etihad this weekend.

Guardiola’s City are looking to win at home in the league for the first time since September 24, with Everton, Southampton, and Middlesbrough all taking a point away from their trip to the North West.

However, in that time they did beat Barcelona 3-1 in the Champions League, and have won three of their last four Premier League matches, and arguably didn’t play great in any of those victories.

Nevertheless, they come up against the in-form team in England on Saturday, with Conte’s Chelsea looking to open up a four-point gap over their rivals with victory in Manchester.

Despite a run of seven straight wins, Conte may consider a few changes to his side, so here are THREE players who deserve an opportunity, be it from the start or the bench, against City on Saturday…

Willian

Last season’s Player of the Year at Stamford Bridge, Brazilian international Willian has struggled to get regular football under Conte this season.

The 28-year-old last started a league game on October 1 in their 2-0 win over Hull, and has since then been restricted to the odd substitute cameo due to the great form of Spanish international Pedro.

He scored five goals and laid on six assists last season, and could be the perfect man to bring off the bench if the Blues are struggling to create chances, and need some impetus in the final third.

Cesc Fabregas

If Chelsea are struggling for control in the middle of the park on Saturday, Conte could turn to out-of-favour midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

The Spanish international has started just one Premier League game this season, and that lasted just 55 minutes at Arsenal on September 24, and he has since not appeared for the Blues at all.

He is not going to depose N’Golo Kante or Nemanja Matic in the starting eleven, yet his big game experience and ability to control the midfield could benefit the Blues on Saturday if Conte feels that they need more bodies and authority in the middle of the park.

Oscar

Similarly to Willian, Brazilian playmaker Oscar has been a bit-part player for Chelsea this season.

He was the main man under Jose Mourinho during the Portuguese’s second spell in charge, and has made just nine Premier League appearances this season, only five of which have been starts.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old still possesses the quality in the final third to win games for the Blues and, alongside Willian, these two could be the perfect replacements should the likes of Eden Hazard and Pedro struggle against City on Saturday.
