Premier League champions Chelsea will get their hands on the trophy following their final day clash with relegated Sunderland on Sunday.
Antonio Conte’s men secured their fifth title in 12 years by narrowly beating West Brom 1-0 last Friday, before returning to Stamford Bridge as champions in a 4-3 success over Watford on Monday night.
And now they will have the chance to really put on a show against David Moyes’ Sunderland, who will be playing Championship football next season after a frankly disastrous campaign this time round.
The Black Cats have managed just six wins from their 37 Premier League games this term, and have only won three of those from their 18 matches on the road.
Clearly, Conte’s Chelsea will be hot favourites to record a 30th win of the campaign on Sunday, which would be a Premier League record, yet the Italian may look to make a few changes to his starting line-up.
Thus, here are THREE Chelsea stars who deserve a chance against Sunderland…
Asmir Begovic
He hasn’t had many opportunities between the sticks this term, yet Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic deserves a third Premier League start of the season against Sunderland.
The Bosnian international has been second choice to Thibaut Courtois throughout the campaign, yet did start in their 4-3 win over Watford on Monday night, as well as their 2-0 loss at Manchester United last month.
And with his future far from certain, the 29-year-old should be given the chance to play for his future with a commanding display on Sunday.
Ola Aina
Defender Ola Aina came off the bench for his first taste of Premier League football in 2017 in the win over Watford on Monday, and may follow that up with his first ever top-flight start on Sunday.
The 20-year-old made his professional debut at the start of the campaign in their League Cup win over Bristol Rovers, but has featured just twice for the club since the turn of the year, getting 15 minutes on Monday, and 33 minutes against Peterborough in the FA Cup in January.
However, Aina has been in and around the first team for the majority of the season, and with Conte potentially going to give some youngsters a chance, he could be in for his first Premier League start on Sunday.
John Terry
John Terry confirmed a few weeks ago that this would be his last season at Chelsea, ending a 22-year association with the club which has seen him play over 700 times, and pick up a whole host of major trophies along the way.
He’ll be lifting another one on Sunday when Conte’s men get their hands on the Premier League title, and 36-year-old Terry deserves the chance to play in front of the Stamford Bridge crowd for one last time in the Chelsea blue.
The captain earned just his fifth league start of the season on Monday against Watford, netting the opener then being at fault for their equaliser, but with Sunday bringing the curtain down on his Blues career, he’ll surely get a start against the Black Cats.
