Could Arsene Wenger land these 3 players linked with Arsenal in January?

Arsenal are looking to end a 12-year wait for a Premier League title this season, and they’ve started the campaign in pretty good fashion in a bid to do just that.

Arsene Wenger’s side, looking to build on their second place finish last season, have won five league matches in the spin, including a comprehensive 3-0 win over Chelsea two weeks ago.

Frenchman Wenger brought six new players to The Emirates over the summer, with Granit Xhaka, Lucas Perez, and Skhodran Mustafi all making big money moves to North London.

However, some still feel that Arsenal are short of what is required to win the title, so Wenger could look to make more additions when the transfer window reopens on January 1.

There has already been a fair bit of speculation surrounding the future of some players, and here are THREE signings that Wenger could pull off in January…

Isco

What a signing this would be for Arsenal if they got a deal done in January!

The 24-year-old is falling down the pecking order at Real Madrid, and has repeatedly been linked with a move to the Premier League should the Spanish side consider selling him.

He has started just once in La Liga for Zinedine Zidane’s side this season, and could be subject of a bidding war between the Gunners, league leaders Manchester City, and Arsenal’s North London rivals, Tottenham, should he be available to leave.

Signing Isco would be a major coup for any of these three sides, so Wenger should do all he can to get the Spanish international to the Emirates.

Riyad Mahrez

Talk of a move for Riyad Mahrez has died down a little in recent weeks, but it’s still likely that Arsenal will be interested in signing him in January.

The Leicester City playmaker signed a new four-year deal with the Premier League champions in August, although was subject of intense speculation throughout the summer, with both Arsenal and Chelsea circling the King Power Stadium.

The 25-year-old has again shown his value to Claudio Ranieri’s side in the early parts of the season by netting a brace in their 3-0 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League and, as January nears, his future will once again come into question.

Although a deal, at this present time, seems unlikely, if Arsenal show title-winning credentials between now and January 1, Mahrez may have something to think about in the New Year.

Kieran Tierney

Wenger has sent scouts to keep an eye on Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney for the last 18 months, and could make a move for the 19-year-old in January.

The Scottish international has impressed for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season, and was hugely influential in their 3-3 draw with Manchester City in the Champions League a few weeks ago.

Subsequently, Pep Guardiola is also interested in the young defender, such was his performance that night, which may force Wenger to bid for him in January.

The Sun suggests that the Arsenal boss is on the look-out for a left-back, what with Kieran Gibbs out of favour and Nacho Monreal 30 years old, so moving for Tierney in January would make complete sense.
