Crystal Palace are reportedly closing in on a £20 million move for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, according to the Sun.

Eagles boss Alan Pardew’s top target had been Liverpool’s Christian Benteke, but with a £30 million move for the Belgian hitting the buffers after the two parties were unable to come to an agreement over personal terms, the south London club are understood to have turned their attentions to the former England Under-21 international instead.

The Baggies have offered Berahino a new four-year contract, but with the 22-year-old seeing his long-term future away from the Hawthorns, they could look to cash in on the attacker this summer instead, once their £20 million valuation is met.

Meanwhile, Palace are looking to boost a side that scored just 39 goals in their 38 Premier League matches last term, and they believe Berahino, who has netted 36 goals in 113 appearances in all competitions for Albion, could be the man to help them.
