Crystal Palace eye £14m move for Sporting Lisbon striker

05 November 2014 - Uefa Champions League - Sporting Lisbon v FC Schalke - Islam Slimani of Sporting.

Crystal Palace are reportedly eyeing a move for £14 million-rated Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.

Eagles boss Alan Pardew is desperate to bring in a centre forward in January with Connor Wickham, Patrick Bamford or Dwight Gayle being struck by injury and failing to impress, meaning that wingers Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha have been used up front in some matches.

The former Newcastle manager has been impressed with the Algeria international, who has scored seven goals in 10 Primeira Liga matches for Sporting this term.

Slimani scored twice for his country at the 2014 World Cup, including one against Russia that saw his side reach the last-16 for the first ever time.
