Crystal Palace are reportedly set to hand former England international Rob Green a return to the Premier League on transfer deadline day, according to the Daily Mail.

The Eagles, who currently sit 11th in the league standings after 23 fixtures, are ready to recruit the Queens Park Rangers man as the Championship club are willing to offload him today in order to remove him from their wage bill.

The 36-year-old, who earned 12 international caps for the Three Lions, has kept nine clean sheets in 25 appearances in all competitions for QPR this season.

However Green has not played for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side since New Year’s Day as he would be entitled to a new deal at Loftus Road if he plays 30 games this campaign.

Palace boss Alan Pardew wants Green to provide competition for fellow shot stoppers Wayne Hennessey, Julian Speroni and Alex McCarthy at Selhurst Park this term.
