Manchester City will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The reigning Premier League champions have lost their past two games in the competition – for the first time in five years – and currently sit third in the table, two points behind league leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

The Seagulls will undoubtedly provide another stern test for Pep Guardiola’s side, who are aiming to win a sixth title in seven years.

City bolstered their squad over the summer with the signings of Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, Jeremy Doku, and Matheus Nunes, but they did also miss out on a number of targets.

One of those that they were unable to sign was Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, and it appears that his current employers are desperate to agree a contract extension with the player.

According to Football Insider, the Eagles are very keen to finalise a long-term extension to Eze’s current contract, which is set to expire in 2025.

Eze remains a target for several clubs including Manchester City

The 25-year-old joined Palace from Championship side Queen’s Park Rangers back in 2020 and has impressed since making the step up to the top flight.

He has made a total of 102 appearances for Palace across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 13 assists.

Eze’s impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed, though, and the report claims that several clubs remain interested in signing the winger, including City.

The former QPR man is able to play in a number of attacking roles, including as a left winger and in an advanced midfield role.

Having been handed his senior debut for England back in June, Eze will be keen to continue impressing and secure himself a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024 next year.
