Crystal Palace are reportedly set to hand England international forward Andros Townsend an instant return to the Premier League this summer, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The English top-flight outfit, who finished 15th in the league standings this term before losing to Manchester United in the 2016 FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium last month, are ready to try and lure the Newcastle United winger to Selhurst Park.

The 24-year-old, who has 11 international caps for the Three Lions but has not been included in England’s 23-man squad for EURO 2016 later this month, scored four goals and provided two assists in 13 appearances in all competitions for the relegated Magpies last season.

Townsend, who only arrived at St James’ Park from Tottenham back in January following his £12m switch, is also said to be attracting interest from Southampton and West Ham United.

However the report suggests the Eagles are in pole position to secure his signature, with Palace boss Alan Pardew ready to trigger the winger’s £10.5m release clause.
