With an FA Cup final on the horizon, Dwight Gayle has emerged as a potential starter for Alan Pardew’s side at Wembley, sealing Shoot’s award for his stand out performances in May.

A rather disappointing 2016 for Palace has been made ten times better due to an excellent FA Cup run – putting their relegation worries at ease.

Before Stoke’s visit to Selhurst Park at the beginning of May, Gayle had gone a month without a goal – but that all changed as he bagged two in the Eagles’ final home game of the season in a 2-1 win.

The 26-year-old also was lively as he played the full 90 minutes at Southampton on the final weekend of the season – where Palace were beaten 4-1.

Gayle’s performances could warrant him a place in the starting XI against Manchester United this weekend at Wembley.
