West Ham United star Dimitri Payet has seemingly sparked talk of a possible move to Arsenal, according to the Express.

The Premier League side, who sit 13th in the English top-flight standings heading into Christmas after back-to-back league victories over Burnley and Hull City respectively, have been thankful to their key man’s performances this term during a disappointing start to the 2016-17 campaign, with the Hammers just five points above the relegation zone.

The 29-year-old, who has 32 international caps for France, has scored three goals and provided seven assists in 18 appearances in all competitions for Slaven Bilic’s side so far this season.

Payet, who joined West Ham from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille back in June 2015 following his reported £10.7m move, is thought to be a target for top-flight rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.

However; the influential midfielder has fuelled speculation about a potential transfer to Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window, after saying, “I am not closing the door to anything.

“I read that Wenger considers me the missing piece of Arsenal’s game, but he’s never told me that.

“We conceded five or six at home against them. When you see them playing, as a technical player, you could only have fun in that team.

“They’re candidates for the title every year.”
