Liverpool defeated rivals Everton 2-1 in the Merseyside derby on Saturday to maintain their perfect start to the season.
The Reds went ahead through Ryan Gravenberch and new signing Hugo Ekitike then doubled the hosts’ advantage at Anfield.
Idrissa Gueye then halved the deficit for the visitors after the break, but Arne Slot’s side held on to record a sixth consecutive victory and maintain their 100% record in the Premier League this term.
Off the pitch, it has emerged that an England international is still Liverpool’s top transfer target amid uncertainty surrounding the future of one of their defenders.
According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi remains one of Liverpool’s top transfer targets ahead of next year.
The report suggests that the reigning Premier League champions are still likely to make a move for Guehi next year, amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of current centre-back Ibrahima Konate.
Both players are set to be out of contract at the end of the season, and Konate has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield.
Guehi, meanwhile, came close to joining Liverpool over the summer before the move eventually collapsed.
Having joined the Eagles from Chelsea in 2021, Guehi has now made more than 160 appearances for the south London club across all competitions.
He has featured in all nine of Palace’s matches so far this term, scoring in a 3-0 win over Aston Villa last month.
Real Madrid are also said to have offered Guehi a lucrative deal to move to the Spanish capital as a free agent next summer, and the idea of the player departing as a free agent could force Palace to lower their asking price in January, the report says.
