England continue their Nations League campaign on Thursday when they welcome Greece to Wembley.
The Three Lions are currently managed by interim boss Lee Carsley, and the former Republic of Ireland oversaw victories against his former country and Finland during the last international break.
Despite winning their opening two, England currently sit behind Greece in the Group B2 table.
One player that was handed his debut by Carsley against Ireland was midfielder Angel Gomes, and the former Manchester United youngster then made his first international start against Finland and was largely impressive.
Now, though, it appears that the player could be on the move next summer.
According to TBR Football, Gomes, who is a target for Tottenham Hotspur, is expected to leave current club Lille when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
The French side are said to be expecting Gomes to follow striker Jonathan David out of the club next summer, and both players will have plenty of options when it comes to finding a new club.
Gomes could feature for England against Greece on Thursday
Gomes, 24, joined Lille from Manchester United in the summer of 2020 and, after a brief loan spell in Portugal, joined the first team in France the following year.
Since then he has played more than 120 times for the Ligue 1 side across all competitions, and his impressive form has earned him a place in the England squads for the past two international breaks.
It is claimed that Spurs face competition from fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa and Manchester City, German outfits Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, and Italian champions Inter Milan in the race to sign Gomes, while former side Man United are also interested.
All of those clubs are said to have made enquiries about the player’s situation in recent weeks, suggesting that there could be a lengthy and hard fought battle for the central midfielder’s signature next year.
