England Under-21 international Nathaniel Chalobah is refusing to give up on his Chelsea career, despite seemingly being unable to nail down a first-team spot with the Blues, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who currently sit fourth in the English top-flight standings, one point behind joint-leaders Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, handed the midfielder his first start of the season in Wednesday’s 2-1 EFL Cup defeat to West Ham United at the London Stadium.

The 21-year-old, who has featured 32 times for England’s Under-21 side, has provided one assist in five games in all competitions for Chelsea so far this term.

Chalobah, who joined the Stamford Bridge outfit aged 10, said, “It shows I get my chance.

“I think people sometimes forget that Chelsea is a very big club and they have got world-class players at the club and for young players coming through.

“It is always going to be difficult, it is never going to be easy.

“But it is down to the coaching staff to see how well we do in training and down to the player, how much believe they have in themselves to keep pushing every day.”

He later added, “Right place, right time, right manager and you never know what might happen. Just don’t give up and keep going.”
