Chelsea travel to Madrid on Tuesday needing a minor miracle to progress through to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The Blues go to the Spanish capital 3-1 down against Real Madrid after their first leg a week ago, although the removal of the away goals rule has done Chelsea a slight favour.
Thomas Tuchel’s side responded to their first leg defeat to Madrid in impressive fashion over the weekend, as they beat Southampton 6-0 at St. Mary’s to further consolidate their position in third place.
Tuchel will be hoping that his side can pick up where they left off against the Saints, with them needing at least two goals to have any chance of progressing.
The Blues will have to do it without Romelu Lukaku, however, as the Belgian has not travelled to Spain for the match.
Lukaku has recently fallen behind Kai Havertz in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge
The striker missed the trip to the south coast on Saturday, amid ongoing speculation over his future.
After returning to Stamford Bridge for a record £98 million fee, Lukaku has endured something of a nightmare second spell in SW6, and he could be on his way back out of the door as early as this summer.
According to But via The Sun, Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as shock contenders to sign the disgruntled striker.
The report suggests that the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, has been in talks with PSG sporting director Leandro about the possibility of a move.
Lukaku has scored just five Premier League goals so far this term, and caused outrage among Chelsea supporters earlier this season when he admitted in an interview that he wasn’t happy with his role at the club.
The 28-year-old had been heavily linked with a return to former side Inter Milan, however he is now reportedly being lined up as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to leave PSG when his current contract expires this summer.
Despite struggling for form at Stamford Bridge, Lukaku has still impressed elsewhere throughout his career, scoring more than 250 top flight goals in Italy, England and Belgium.
