Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to make a new year swoop for Belgium international forward Romelu Lukaku, according to the Mirror.

The defending Ligue 1 champions, who currently trail French top-flight leaders OGC Nice by three points after their opening 12 league fixtures, have been linked with Everton’s star striker ahead of the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old, who has 54 international caps for his country and featured for Belgium at Euro 2016 in France earlier this summer, has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 11 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees so far this season.

Lukaku, who remains the club’s record signing after arriving from Premier League rivals Chelsea back in July 2014 for a reported £28m, is an integral part of boss Ronald Koeman’s first-team plans at Goodison Park, with Everton currently sitting seventh in the top-flight standings following Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian hitman has netted 68 times in 138 games for Everton since originally arriving on loan back in September 2013.
