Everton close in on Pickford move

Everton are close to completing a deal to sign Jordan Pickford.

According to a report in The Sun a £17m deal has been agreed to take the Sunderland keeper to Goodison Park.

Sunderland are bracing themselves for an end of season clear out as their better players are snapped up by rivals.

Local lad Pickford has been except from criticism as Sunderland’s season descended into a highly predictable relegation.

Ronald Koeman has had the 23-year-old in his sights for some time and is moving in fast before a goalkeeping transfer merry-go-round gets underway.

Pickford can be certain of starting next season as Everton’s first choice keeper which will boost his England prospects after breaking into the squad earlier this season.

With the future of Joe Hart still to be settled Pickford will be hoping to catch the eye of Gareth Southgate and push his claims to be first choice keeper in Russia.
