Everton fans react to Koeman’s Barkley comments

It must all be getting a bit tiring for Everton fans constantly having to listen to rumours regarding their best player’s contracts and ‘will he sign or wont he’ stories in the press almost every day.

Just days after Tom Davies puts pen to paper on a new deal comes news that Ross Barkley could be heading out of Goodison this summer with Ronald Koeman addressing the issue after the Toffees 4-2 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

Koeman noted:

“We offer him a new contract, and there are two possibilities.

“One, he signs that contract. If he doesn’t sign that contract then we need to sell the player. It’s simple, it’s not so difficult in my opinion.”

Barkley has a year left on his current deal so would have to be sold this summer if Everton are to receive a decent fee for the midfielder, although with such a short amount of time left it does mean Barkley may be available for something of a reduced price as suitors will know Koeman cannot afford to play hardball.

The 23 year-old has been impressive this season and was instrumental in Sunday’s win setting up the Toffees second goal with superb cross for Romelu Lukaku.

Everton fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the midfielder’s future:
