Everton line up bid for Lemos

Everton are weighing up a bid for Mauricio Lemos.

According to a report in The Telegraph the Las Palamas defender has been brought to the attention of Ronald Koeman who is planning a massive summer spending programme.

Lemos has been capped by Uruguay at u20 and u23 level but the main issue would be getting a work permit for the 21-year-old.

In 2015 the Department of Employment changed the criteria from the number of international caps that a player has to focus on the salary on offer and the standard of the league that he is playing in.

Those grounds should give Everton hope over that a permit can be granted with Lemos impressing against the top clubs in La Liga for the club based in Gran Canaria.

Lemos is valued at £18m which would be a £10m saving on the fee now being discussed for Michael Keane of Burnley who seems destined for Liverpool or Manchester United.
