Everton must snap up these 3 bargains in the January sales

With the January transfer window fast approaching Everton will be searching the market for players who can add to their side for the second half of the season.

The campaign had started well for new manager Ronald Koeman’s side; winning four of their first five Premier League games. However, their form since has been alarming, the Toffees have gained just 1 win in their last 10 games, including a damaging 3-2 away loss at Watford last time out. They were also dumped out of the EFL Cup by Championship side Norwich back in September.

However, the men from Goodison Park still have it all to play for during the second half of the season. They’ll be desperate to claim a Europa League qualification spot – a goal at the start of the campaign and one that is still obtainable.

The Toffees will also have their eye on an FA Cup run, having not won a trophy since 1995. To help them with these goals the recruitment team will no doubt be working overtime to identify players who can add that extra bit of quality to the side in January.

It’s always worth keeping an eye out for bargain buys during the window, as the money saved in these deals can be spent on other targets. With that said here’s THREE bargain buys Everton should be looking to snap up this January…

Saido Berahino

The enigma that is Saido Berahino could finally be about to realise his full potential. His contract is up this summer meaning he could be available for a cheap fee this January. The 23-year-old doesn’t seem interested in signing a new deal, following the tricky spell he has had at the club since he tried to push through a move to Tottenham back in the summer of 2015.

Berahino has undoubted talent, having scored plenty for West Brom and England u21’s before the transfer-bust up. Everton could use someone with the goal-scoring prowess of the young Englishman, as they are far too reliant on Romelu Lukaku for goals. The addition of Berahino could ease the burden on the Belgian and drive the Toffees up the table.

Morgan Scheneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin is badly out of favour at Old Trafford, with new manager Jose Mourinho almost appearing to completely disregard the Frenchman, who has only made two appearances in the league so far this campaign. As a result, it is likely the 27-year-old will be available for a cut-price fee this January.

Everton could do with Schneiderlin’s tenacity in the middle of the park; they are failing to provide their defence with adequate protection and are struggling to control games at the moment. The tackles and interceptions of an in-form Schneiderlin could make all the difference to an Everton side looking to get their season back on track.

Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay is another who has struggled at United since his arrival in 2015. The Dutchman was signed as a seemingly guaranteed future star, but it hasn’t quite worked out as yet, meaning he could be made available at a cheap price this January.

The 22-year-old has proved he knows where the goal is having scored a remarkable 28 goals for PSV the season before his move to United. If he can replicate even a hint of this type of return it would pay serious rewards for an Everton side that are struggling for goals from anyone other than Romelu Lukaku this season.
