Everton should snap up these 2 Arsenal stars this summer

Ronald Koeman oversaw a solid Premier League campaign at Everton in his first season in charge at Goodison Park.

The Dutchman replaced the sacked Roberto Martinez in the summer with the brief of improving upon their disappointing 11th place finish in the top-flight, and he has done just that with the Toffees concluding the campaign in seventh, just nine points behind sixth place Manchester United.

And the former Southampton manager will already be turning his attentions to next season, especially given that they will be competing in the Europa League third qualifying round at the start of the 2017/18 campaign, and will certainly need to hit the ground running when they return from the summer.

And that means that the Toffees chief will already be thinking about potential transfer targets, and he may even consider raiding some of their nearest rivals in a bid to acquire the talent required to sustain a challenge to the top six, and perhaps break into the Champions League spots next season.

Thus, one club they could look at is fifth place Arsenal, so here are TWO Gunners Everton must try and land this summer…

Kieran Gibbs

With Leighton Baines 32 years of age, Koeman may begin thinking about bringing in another, more long-term option at left-back this summer.

And one man who he could look at is Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs, who has struggled to nail down a first team at the Emirates in recent years.

The 27-year-old has been playing second fiddle to Nacho Monreal for much of the campaign, and has looked a far cry away from the left-back that looked set to become England’s next long-term left-back after Ashley Cole a few years ago.

Yet at the age of 27, Gibbs is entering crucial years in his career, and a move away to somewhere like Everton, where he is more likely to get regular first team football, should be something he, and indeed Koeman, considers this season.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Another Arsenal star who has found gametime hard to come by is midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and thus he’s another who may be considering his options this summer.

The 23-year-old said back in October that if he didn’t get more first team football as the season went on he’d have to think about his future in the summer, and although he has featured more in recent weeks, he still only managed 16 Premier League starts this term.

And, as a result, Koeman should look to bring him to Goodison Park this summer, as he’d certainly get more gametime there, and his versatility would give the Toffees significantly greater options.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been a great wing-back in recent games, and with Seamus Coleman out for a sustained period of time, that’s a role he could excel in, while his capabilities in the centre of midfield and down the wing have also been clear to see.

It doesn’t appear as though he’ll nail down a regular starting berth at Arsenal over the coming seasons, so Koeman should look to snap him up for Everton this summer.
