Everton have stepped up their interest in Leander Dendoncker .

According to a report in The Sun Ronald Koeman had the Anderlecht midfielder watched during Sunday’s 2-0 win over Zulte Waregem.

Dendoncker has been one of the driving forces in Anderlecht’s title challenge and caught the eye in their Europa League ties against Manchester United.

The 22-year-old has came through the ranks at Anderlecht and is viewed as a potential replacement for Gareth Barry in the Everton side.

Koeman has been frustrated in his attempts to bring in some big names at Everton and is concentrating his efforts on players under the age of 24 and has extensive links across Holland and Belgium.

Dendoncker is under contract until 2021 but if a £12m offer comes in from Everton it will be difficult for Anderlecht to reject.

After three seasons as a first team player the midfielder is open to a move to England and the chance to play alongside and against some of the best players in the world on a weekly basis.
