Everton to announce signing of South American

Everton are expected to secure the £5.5 million signing of River Plate centre back Ramiro Funes Mori on Saturday.

The 24-year-old has passed a medical and agreed a five-year deal with the Toffeees.

Roberto Martinez has been looking to bolster his defence after Sylvain Distin and Antolín Alcaraz departed the club over the summer.

John Stones is still being linked with a big-money move to Chelsea but Mori’s arrival will not impact that transfer saga as the Argentina international has been brought to provide competition for the England man and teammate Phil Jagielka.

Mori is likely to be presented to fans ahead of Sunday’s home game against Manchester City.
