Everton could reportedly turn their attention to signing England international striker Danny Welbeck, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Premier League side, who finished seventh in the English top-flight standings last term, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League, have been linked with the Arsenal forward if The Toffees struggle to pull off a deal for team-mate Olivier Giroud this summer.

The 26-year-old, who has 34 international caps for The Three Lions, scored five goals and provided four assists in 22 appearances in all competitions for The Gunners last season.

Welbeck, who arrived at the Emirates Stadium back in September 2014 following his reported £16m switch from Premier League rivals Manchester United, has netted 17 times in 69 games overall for Arsene Wenger’s side, winning two FA Cups.

The report suggests Everton boss Ronald Koeman is keen on recruiting another striker after selling Romelu Lukaku to United for £75m this summer, despite already bringing in Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney respectively.

Giroud is deemed Koeman’s preferred target, but £30m-rated Welbeck is being eyed as an alternative option.
