Name: Ramiro Funes Mori
Position: Centre-Back
Despite a poor defensive record being Everton’s Achilles heel, we’ve selected a centre-back as their Player of the Month.
Three credible draws against Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea were followed up by a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to strugglers Swansea – a result which has summed up the Toffees’ last two campaigns.
But in those matches, Ramiro Funes Mori was one who certainly caught the eye with a number of all-action displays.
In the draws against Spurs and City, the Argentine stood up to the task of keeping Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero off the scoresheet.
Then, despite being a substitute against Chelsea, he jumped off the bench to score what looked to be an injury-time winner, only for John Terry to score a controversial 99th minute equaliser.
The Swansea match wasn’t his best performance in a Blues shirt but with John Stones, Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley hitting a dip in form, it’s been the Argentine who’s stood out in a rather disappointing month.
