Former Premier League striker Carlton Cole is interested in joining Celtic.

The ex-Chelsea and West Ham United hitman is training with the Scottish Premiership champions with a view to signing a permanent contract at Celtic Park.

The 31-year-old, who has seven England international caps to his name, was released by the Hammers towards the end of last season after scoring three times in 26 appearances in all competitions.

After watching Celtic thrash Dundee 6-0 at the weekend, Cole said: “Glasgow has surprised me; I’ve never been to Scotland before so hopefully we can do a deal. I’m going to go and train and see how I like it and see how the boys are.

“I was almost going to MLS instead of coming here so hopefully I do like it here.”
