Despite failing to live up to expectations at Liverpool following his £16m switch from AC Milan back in August 2014, it is fair to say that Mario Balotelli is now lighting up Ligue 1 with an array of stunning goals for his new club, OGC Nice.

The Italy striker, who has 33 international caps to his name, managed to find the back of the net just four times in 28 appearances for the Reds, before re-joining AC Milan on loan and ultimately heading to France earlier this summer.

The former Reds and Manchester City forward, who netted a more impressive 30 strikes in his 80 games for Premier League rivals Man City between 2010 and 2013, has already scored six goals in his first five matches for his new outfit, Nice.

Balotelli’s latest effort (above) helped the Ligue 1 side record a late 2-1 victory over FC Lorient, sending Nice one point clear at the top of the French top-flight standings, ahead of runners-up AS Monaco and defending league champions Paris Saint-Germain in third.
