Ex-Premier League star says Man Utd need to replace Solskjaer with former Liverpool boss

Rodgers led Leicester to FA Cup success last term.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under huge pressure at Manchester United following his side’s 5-0 mauling at the hands of Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Prior to Sunday’s shocking show, the Norwegian had seen his side falter this term, failing to win any of their three previous Premier League games.

This has led to speculation that the Red Devils could look to replace their legendary striker in the dugout sooner rather than later.

Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane are two names who have been linked with the post but, according to former Premier League striker Stan Collymore, United should be looking a lot closer to home for Ole’s replacement.

That man he’s talking about is Leicester City and former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who won the FA Cup with the Foxes last term.

“For me, the Leicester boss fits every criteria for what’s required at Old Trafford,” he wrote in The Mirror.

“Ole may still be given more time at the wheel but the juggernaut that is arguably the biggest club in the world is in danger of proving way too heavy for him to control.

“And if the wheels do come off then it’s a no brainer to go out and get the Foxes boss.

“The United board would have to completely get out of their heads Rodgers’ Liverpool connection.”

It looks as though Solskjaer will continue for now but bad results in their next matches against Tottenham, Atalanta and rivals Man City could possibly bring his tenure to an end.
