Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has told reporters at his pre-Burnley press conference that he would “one day” be interested in the England job, which is currently vacant after the departure of the disgraced Sam Allardyce.

The Frenchman celebrates 20 years at the North London club this week and, with his current contract expiring at the end of this season, has been strongly linked with the top job.

Having been with the Gunners since 1996, England is a second home to the former Monaco boss and, although he has been on the wrong end of some stories and had a few spats, he has a good relationship with the nation’s media which, although it could change quickly, is a massive bonus.

The 66-year-old has endured a tough time with fans at The Emirates in recent years and, dependant or results, could be tempted to make the move across to Wembley Stadium come the end of the season when his contract is up.

The news has divided some fans, however, many are keen to see Le Prof replace Big Sam…

And, of course, the rumours are music to the ears of the quite unfathomable #WengerOut brigade…
