Chelsea continued their charge towards the Premier League title with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Stoke City on Saturday.
Antonio Conte’s men knew that a 22nd win of the campaign would take them 13 points clear at the top, and goals from Willian and Gary Cahill held off Mark Hughes’ side to secure a massive three points.
Their 13-point lead didn’t last too long though, as Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham got the better of Southampton 2-1 at White Hart Lane on Sunday, with strikes from Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli proving that Spurs can still win and get the goals even without star man Harry Kane.
Third place Manchester City and fourth place Liverpool played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, with James Milner’s penalty cancelled out by Sergio Aguero’s 13th league goal of the campaign, leaving the Reds just four points ahead of Manchester United in fifth after they beat Middlesbrough 3-1 on Sunday.
The Red Devils finally moved out of sixth and replace Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal in fifth after they suffered a fourth defeat in five league games on Saturday, meekly losing 3-1 at West Brom, who remain seven points behind Everton in seventh after they thumped struggling Hull 4-0 at Goodison Park.
Elsewhere, Sunderland remain bottom after only managing a 0-0 draw at home to Burnley, while 17th place Swansea were unable to pull clear of the relegation zone after losing 2-0 at Bournemouth.
Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace secured a third straight victory by seeing off Watford 1-0 at Selhurst Park, while champions Leicester continued their resurgence under new boss Craig Shakespeare with a 3-2 success at West Ham, their first away league win of the season.
Clearly, it was an exciting and fascinating weekend of Premier League action, and several supporters took to Twitter to express their views on the weekend’s matches, with City’s 1-1 draw coming in for high praise from some home fans…

While many were rightly complimentary of John Stones’ performance at the Etihad on Sunday…
One of John Stones' best games for #mcfc. Could have scored, but some important interceptions.

And it is Arsenal who they have replaced in fifth after their abject display in defeat at West Brom on Saturday, with Wenger’s future as boss once again subject to debate on Twitter…
#arsenal another shocking performance. They should be ashamed of themselves. Should be an honour to wear our great shirt. #AFC for life
