Fans react to an integral weekend of Premier League action

Premier League leaders Chelsea need just three more points to secure a fifth title in 12 years after beating Middlesbrough this weekend, in turn relegating the North East outfit.

Antonio Conte’s men had seen second place Tottenham lose 1-0 at West Ham on Friday night to keep the gap at four points, and goals from Diego Costa, Marcos Alonso, and Nemanja Matic means that victory over West Brom on Friday will seal the deal for the West London side.

Steve Agnew’s Boro on the other hand will be playing Championship football next season following a frustrating league campaign, which has seen them win just five of their 36 Premier League games.

Elsewhere, Liverpool remain in third despite only mustering a 0-0 draw at home to Southampton, but Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are now right behind them after they swept aside Crystal Palace 5-0 on Saturday.

Fifth place Manchester United suffered their first league defeat since October after going down 2-0 at Arsenal, who keep their faint top four hopes alive ahead of their meeting with Southampton on Wednesday night, while seventh place Everton lost for the second successive time, this time 1-0 at Swansea.

And that result for the Swans saw them climb out of the bottom three at the expense of Hull City, who fell to a surprise 2-0 defeat at home to already-relegated Sunderland, while the likes of Bournemouth, Stoke City, and champions Leicester City all secured their top-flight status over the weekend, the former two drawing 2-2 at the Vitality Stadium while Craig Shakespeare’s Foxes beat Watford 3-0.

And in the weekend’s other clash, Sean Dyche’s Burnley moved six points clear of danger with just two games left after drawing 2-2 at home to eighth place West Brom, who in turn ended a run of four straight league defeats.
