Rangers have today confirmed the appointment of Pedro Caixinha as their new manager on a three-year contract.

The 46-year-old Portuguese’s first look at his new squad will be during Sunday’s Old Firm derby against Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic, who sit a massive 24 points clear at the summit of the league standings.

Caixinha has previously managed the likes of Uniao Leiria and Nacional in Portugal, whilst also leading Mexican side Santos Laguna to the 2014 Copa MX Apertura trophy, the 2015 Liga MX Clausura title and the 2015 Campeon de Campeones trophy, plus the 2013 Concacaf Champions League final.

Under-20 coach Graeme Murty will still be in interim charge of The Gers for tomorrow’s derby clash, but Caixinha will start his new job from Monday.

So, after finally succeeding Mark Warburton, who left Ibrox back in early-February, here’s what Rangers fans had to say on Twitter about Caixinha’s arrival…

Some were delighted to see the Portuguese rubberstamp his long awaited deal…

Whereas some were fairly underwhelmed by the Portuguese’s appointment…

Caixinha’s name alone has instantaneously gained the club another overseas supporter…

Well, here’s some optimism for Gers fans…

Meanwhile one user asked whether the 46-year-old was actually brought in to shore up the defence!
