Fantasy Premier League: Five players to select for Matchweek 9

The Premier League returns this weekend following the international break which means it’s time for FPL managers to select their team for Matchweek 9.

Whether you’re flying like Liverpool and looking to maintain a decent start to the season or struggling like Manchester United and want to kick-start your campaign, now is the time to act!

If you’re wondering who to transfer in this weekend, we’re kindly going to try and help you out.

So here’s five players we really feel can fly and hit the headlines this coming weekend….

Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)
Value: £5.9m

Aston Villa really announced their return to the Premier League last time out with their 5-1 away win at Norwich. In that match, captain Jack Grealish struck his first top-flight goal since 2016 and looked like a cut above. The Villans star has taken his time to grow into the campaign but over the last few weeks he’s really started to up his game. With a Brighton team visiting who have failed to win or score away from home since the opening day of the season, the 24-year-old could really shine once more.

Callum Wilson (Bournemouth)
Value: £7.9m

Bournemouth are enjoying a decent start to their fifth consecutive Premier League campaign, sitting tenth as it stands. One of the reasons for that is the form of striker Callum Wilson. The 27-year-old has scored five times in the last five league matches, including three in the last two home games. With Norwich possessing the worst defensive record in the division having conceded 21 – 10 of those from four games on the road – Wilson will be licking his lips at welcoming the Canaries to the south coast.

Mason Mount (Chelsea)
Value: £6.8m

Chelsea’s team sprinkled with young homegrown talent under the legendary Frank Lampard really has excited this season. One of the standout performers, not just for Chelsea but in the Premier League, is midfielder Mason Mount. The 20-year-old has scored four league goals in eight matches. Although three of those have come away from Stamford Bridge, three have come against teams in the lower half. With Newcastle in the bottom-10 and playing a deep defensive line, Mount could be the man to break through that and find the net.

Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)
Value: £9.0m

Leicester City have been one of the teams to watch this term with Brendan Rodgers’ side playing attractive football. Once again Jamie Vardy is their main man in attack having notched five Premier League goals this term. This weekend the ex-England forward faces Burnley on home turf. Although he’s scored just three times in 11 career games against the Clarets, the fact he’s scored four times in his last three home games should be enough to convince you to pick him.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal)
Value: £11.1m

Arsenal have had quite an erratic start to the season but are actually sitting third and are unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions. The Gunners will be thanking their lucky stars that they Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in their ranks with the striker having scored seven Premier League goals so far this term. Unai Emery’s side travel to Sheffield United on Monday and although they have failed to win on the road since an opening day victory at Newcastle, they have scored in all of their trips. Aubameyang has notched four away goals in as many matches and will be looking forward to facing a Blades side which, despite some decent showings, have lost their last three home matches.
