FC Barcelona could reportedly switch their attentions to signing Denmark international star Christian Eriksen this summer, according to the Independent.

The La Liga giants are set to make a move for the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder after becoming frustrated with Liverpool’s reluctance to sell Brazil international Philippe Coutinho, despite the player issuing The Reds an official transfer request on Friday.

Eriksen, 25, who has 69 international caps for his country, scored 12 goals and provided 23 assists in 48 appearances in all competitions for Spurs last season.

The central midfielder, who arrived at White Hart Lane back in August 2013 following his reported £11m switch from Eredivisie outfit Ajax, has netted 42 times in 179 games overall for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

With Barcelona looking to replace Neymar and find an eventual successor to Andres Iniesta this summer, the report suggests the Spanish side have already begun work on luring the Danish ace to the Nou Camp before the close of the transfer window.
