Five players Liverpool could sign in the January transfer window

There's been no room in Klopp's plans for Adekanye.

Champions of Europe Liverpool are currently flying nine points clear at the top of the Premier League.

It has taken time for manager Jurgen Klopp to mould the team he wants at Anfield but they are – like the Liverpool teams of the 1980s – a true force to be reckoned with.

The German has signed the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in his time in charge – all of which are now considered to be amongst the best on the planet.

Although the Reds are not expected to dip into the market in January, the rumour mill has linked them with a handful of players.

Based on the reports, we’ve looked at five potential signings the Merseyside giants could make if they decide to splash the cash at the turn of the year.

Timo Werner (RB Leipzig)

Liverpool have been linked with Timo Werner for nearly a year now and he could be the perfect back-up player to Liverpool’s front-three.

Werner is able to play as a central striker but also on the left wing, providing suitable cover in various positions.

Not only that, his impressive goalscoring record of 16 goals in 17 matches so far this term, plus his international pedigree with Germany shows he also has that quality maybe lacking when either of the front-three are unavailable.

However, should Klopp’s side decide to try to sign his fellow countryman, it’s claimed that he’ll have to beat off competition from Manchester United, who are also reportedly keen on signing the striker.

Aaron Hickey (Hearts)

Dubbed the next Andy Robertson, the high-flying full-back is only 17 years of age but is already a regular for Hearts.

It was reported that both Liverpool and Arsenal sent representatives to watch the full-back in October, with the Scot playing 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Rangers.

Veteran James Milner is often used to cover Robertson at left-back so it’s clear this is an area of the squad that needs looking at. .

With that in mind, the talented teenager could be brought in as cover and long-term competition for his fellow countryman.

Mohamed Daramy (Copenhagen)

Another player Liverpool are reported to be actively scouting is Danish wonderkid Mohamed Daramy.

Currently playing for Copenhagen in the Danish Superliga, Daramy is mainly a centre-forward but can also play on both wings.

Another who’s just 17, Klopp could be looking at the talented tennager as one for the future.

But with his versatility and quality also claimed to be attracting interest from Celtic, the Reds may have to move quickly.

Javairo Dilrosun (Hertha)

Liverpool have reportedly joined Chelsea in the pursuit of 21-year-old winger Javairo Dilrosun.

The youngster spent four years in Manchester City’s academy but now plays in the Bundesliga for Hertha Berlin.

Dilrosun is a quick and skilful winger who has three goals and two assists so far this term.

The Netherlands international would again provide suitable cover for Liverpool’s front three and, at just 21, could become a regular in the future.

Ferran Torres (Valencia)

Ferran Torres, 19, has come through Valencia’s youth system to become a key player in their team.

The teenager has impressed so much that he’s been linked with a move to Liverpool who, alongside Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona, are thought to be an admirer of the winger.

Again this potential signing would provide competition and cover to wide forwards Mane and Salah but will also give Klopp a chance to develop a player so highly rated in his homeland.

As well as having already played over 70 times for Valencia, Torres scored both of the goals in the 2009 Under-19 European Championships final as Spain beat Portugal 2-0.
