Following 6-1 thrashing to Spurs, which 3 players could join Manchester United on transfer deadline day

United boss Solskjaer is under more pressure than ever before.

After a promising end to the 2019/20 Premier League season, Manchester United fans were excited at the prospect of possibly closing the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool this season.

However, performances so far this term have not done anything to suggest that they will be able to challenge their rivals over a long season.

An opening day defeat at home to Crystal Palace was followed up with a fortunate last-gasp 3-2 win at Brighton.

That left Spurs at home, played yesterday afternoon which ended in a miserable 6-1 defeat at Old Trafford, suffered to the hands of ex-boss Jose Mourinho.

More surprising than the Red Devils’ below-par showings is their lack of activity in the transfer market.

Van de Beek is the United’s only new arrival this summer.

With the window shutting on this afternoon at 11pm, the Old Trafford club have brought in just Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

United have been linked with numerous names throughout the past few months but, with a matter of hours to go, here’s three players Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could add to his squad before the deadline…

Edinson Cavani

Reports by SkySports claim that Manchester United have all-but secured a deal for the goalscoring veteran Cavani. At the age of 33, it would be fair to say that Cavani is in the latter part of his career, but the Uruguay international still knows how to find the net. Reports suggest the striker is due to have a medical at United before completing a two year deal on a free transfer, following leaving the French capital Paris Saint-Germain.

Jadon Sancho

It will be no surprise to see Jadon Sancho on this list as it’s no secret that he’s been United’s top transfer target throughout the summer. According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils had a £91.3million offer turned down by Borussia Dortmund last week as they seek £108million for the 20-year-old. It’s believed United will make a final push to try and sign the England international before the deadline and Sky Sports pundit, Jame Redknapp, believes they will eventually get their man.

Alex Telles

Reports by SkySports suggest that Telles will be joining Cavani at Old Trafford today. The Brazil international plays most of his football at left back, which could mean bad news for the current United left backs, Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams. At 27-years-old, the FC Porto full back should be moving into his prime years and has experience winning honours and playing in Europe’s premier competitions.
