Manchester United will begin their 2026/27 Premier League campaign with a visit to newly-promoted Hull City.
The Red Devils will have Michael Carrick in charge for their visit to face the Tigers, with the Englishman having been appointed as the club’s permanent head coach after impressing during a spell in caretaker charge.
Carrick guided United to a third-placed finish in the Premier League last term and, in doing so, his side secured qualification for the Champions League during the upcoming season.
Ahead of the start of the new campaign, however, it has emerged that a former United manager is keen to lure one of the Red Devils’ players to join him at his new club.
As per Italian outlet MilanPress, via TEAMtalk, Ruben Amorim is keen to sign midfielder Mason Mount for his new club, AC Milan.
Amorim was in charge at Old Trafford between November 2024 and January 2026, but was sacked at the start of last year after a dismal run of results during the first half of the season.
During his time in charge, Mount was one of few players to impress for the Red Devils.
Mount himself joined United from fierce rivals Chelsea back in 2023, having graduated from the Blues’ academy and established himself as a regular at both club level and internationally for England.
Since moving to Old Trafford, though, the midfielder has scored just seven goals and provided only two assists in 72 games for United across all competitions.
He was, however, one of few United players who appeared to benefit from Amorim’s appointment at Old Trafford, featuring regularly and often impressing during the Portuguese’s tenure.
The report claims that Mount could be available for as little as £21.6 million this summer, despite United paying £55 million to sign the player from Chelsea just three years ago.
