Four Manchester United players who will be desperate for the season not to end early

Mata has scored three times this season.

Four Manchester United players who will be desperate for the season not to end early.

Speculation is growing every day that the current Premier League season 2019/2020, could be cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Of course, the powers that be in football are desperate to get this season across the line and all Premier League clubs have been in agreement that the season should finish, but it may not be possible when you consider contracts ending in June and other factors.

Most players will want to see the season out, but here at Shoot we think there are four players who will be more desperate than most.

Here they are below in no particular order…

Fred

The 2019/2020 campaign has been a defining season for Fred in a Manchester United shirt. Having joined the club in the summer of 2018, he has struggled to find any form at United and found himself out the side for long periods. However, this season he has kicked on and been a main-stay in the United midfield with some great performances.

Paul Pogba

It’s been a disaster season for Pogba through no fault of his own. Plagued by injuries since September has seen the World Cup Winner make less than ten appearances this season. He was expected to play much part at all, but with the possibility of football returning in June, Pogba has a chance to make a real impact this season and drag United into the top four.

Bruno Fernandes

What a start Fernandes made to his United career. It’s often difficult for players to come over to the Premier League and make an instant impact, but that just didn’t seem the case for the Portugal midfield player. He will be gutted for football to have been postponed given the start he had made and will be desperate for football to return as soon as possible.

Juan Mata

It might seem a strange choice, as he is an established squad player at United, but we feel Mata will be losing out due to the lack of football. The Spaniard has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Red Devils line-up for quite some time now, but since the arrival of Fernandes, Mata has been playing some of his best football and will be keen to get back out there ahead of another transfer window.
