Solskjaer's United seem to have won the race for Pellistri.

Four players Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could sell in January, according to the Daily Star

After a very positive return from a football perspective, following lockdown for United, things have taken a dramatic turn since the 2020/21 campaign kicked off.

A home loss to Crystal Palace, followed by a poor performance at Brighton & Hove Albion then the devastating 6-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur has left United with three points after three league games.

It’s certainly not the start the club would have wanted this season, and many fans feel there are players in the squad that simply aren’t good enough to compete at the top level.

The Daily Star have reported that manager Solskjaer feels the same and is due to sell some of his squad in the January transfer window.

Here are four players who could leave Old Trafford at the start of 2021…

Phil Jones

Despite handing Jones a new three-year deal just last year, it seems the defender and former England international could be on his way out of Old Trafford. He is yet to make a single appearance this season and is way down the pecking order amongst the United defenders. It will be interesting to see which clubs take a punt on Jones as many still believe he can do a job in the Premier League.

Daniel James

Here’s a player on the list that may surprise one or two. Daniel James started his United career on fire at the start of last season, scoring goals and looking the real deal. Unfortunately for the Wales international, he has not managed to reach those levels since and does not look like a player ready to compete at the top of the Premier League.

Paul Pogba

On his day, Paul Pogba is undoubtably one of the best in the world, but how often does the Frenchman have these days? Unfortunately, for United fans very rarely and with Pogba’s current deal up next summer, January could be the time to sell Pogba to the ever-present Real Madrid. For some reason, Pogba in a Manchester United shirt has not seemed to work, at least on a consistent basis anyway.

Sergio Romero

For the last few seasons, Sergio Romero has been considered as one of the best number two goalkeepers in world football. When called upon the Argentine rarely put a foot wrong. And with David de Gea’s recent woes, many felt the shot-stopper deserved a chance as United’s number one. However, with the recall of Dean Henderson, Romero’s United days are certainly numbered and they are likely to sell the goalkeeper in January.
