Four players Manchester United could sign in the January transfer window

Rumours suggest Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a fan of Maddison.

It’s been a disappointing start to the season for Manchester United and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa at home means they have won just four of their opening 14 Premier League matches – a club-record low.

The result leaves them ninth in the table, eight points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea and looking unlikely to bridge that gap.

United fans will know though that January is now just a month away, and they’ll hope to see bodies recruited in order to strengthen the squad for the second half of the campaign.

But who could the Old Trafford side move for? We take a look at four players the Red Devils have been linked with over the last seven days…

James Rodriguez and Mariano Diaz

Not one initiated by United, but it’s been reported by The Sun that they will be offered James Rodriguez, Mariano Diaz and £73million in exchange for Paul Pogba.

Rodriguez joined the Spanish giants after a stunning World Cup in 2014 but has not lived up to his billing.

The Colombian spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich and has been a fringe player since his return to the Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, Diaz, 26, has played just 19 times since his transfer from Lyon in the summer of 2018 and is surplus to requirements.

Erling Haaland

Norwegian striking sensation Erling Haaland has been making headlines across Europe this season with his goalscoring exploits.

The 19-year-old, who is the son of former Premier League midfielder Alf-Inge Haaland, has scored 27 goals in 19 matches for Red Bull Salzburg to date this term.

Various reports have linked the teenager with a move to Old Trafford, with the Mirror claiming United are no longer interested in signing Mario Mandzukic from Juventus due to their interested in Haaland.

It’s claimed that the Premier League giants are lining up a whopping £75million deal for the wonderkid.

Dejan Kulusevski

Another 19-year-old turning heads is Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski, who is on a season-long loan deal at Parma from Atalanta.

So far this term, the Stockholm-born star has already registered three goals and five assists in Serie A and won his first senior international cap.

The Sun report that United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Inter Milan and Juventus are interested in the £40million rated player.

However, they also claim that the teenager is a fan of fellow Premier League side, Chelsea.
