Four strikers Manchester United could sign this summer following Lautaro Martinez rejection

Solskjaer has been praised for his work in the transfer market so far.

Four strikers Manchester United could sign this summer following Lautaro Martinez rejection, according to the Express.

It’s been clear all season, that United have been short in striker positions after letting Alexis Sanchez and Remelu Lukaku leave without replacement.

And although the Red Devils have filled the temporary gap with the loan signing of Nigerian Odion Ighalo and Sanchez set to return next season, the club will still be in the market for a frontman.

The Express highlighted four possible options.

Moussa Dembele

Like all of the below, United have been keeping a close eye on the Lyon man.

However, the Old Trafford outfit are not the only side interested in the Ligue 1 hitman, with Premier League rivals Chelsea also interested.

Demebele has 12 goals in 22 Ligue 1 matches but also brings a lot more than just goals to his game. He is also a proven goalscorer in Britain with spells at Celtic and Fulham.

Timo Werner

Although much speculation has surrounded Werner’s next move to Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, that deal is not set in stone.

The young Germany international will also have to weigh up his possible limited game time at Anfield with the mesmerising front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah unstoppable at the moment.

Werner is focussed on his form with RB Leipzig at this time and is set to make a decision following the European Championships i in the summer.

Edison Cavani

Often considered as one the most clinical strikers in world football over recent years, the Uruguayan looks set to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Due to his current contract with the France champions, Cavani will be available for a free in the summer, and United will have to fight off many European teams to gain his signature.

At 33-years-old Cavani would bring a level of experience to what is a young United strike-force.

Maxi Gomez

According to reports United sent scouts to watch the Valencia striker back in January, and is a key target for the North West side.

The game the scouts chose to visit was Valencia’s La Liga 2-0 win over Barcelona where Gomez bagged both goals.

Like Cavani, Gomez is also from Uruguay and has been one of the Spanish league’s most prolific marksmen in recent years.
