3EM18EN File photo dated 24-05-2026 of AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is set to be unveiled as Liverpool?s new head coach after flying into Merseyside to complete the final details on a deal to succeed Arne Slot. Issue date: Thursday 4th June, 2026.

France will face South American side Paraguay in the last 16 of the World Cup on Saturday evening.

Didier Deschamps’s side were among the favourites going into the tournament, and have justified that in North America.

Les Bleus cruised to victories against Senegal, Iraq and Norway in the group stages, before an emphatic 3-0 win over Sweden in the first knockout round last Friday.

Kylian Mbappe has been in fine form in front of goal, scoring six goals already as well as providing two assists.

The Real Madrid star sits top of the scoring charts in the race for the Golden Boot, while teammate Michael Olise has so far provided the most assists – 5.

Another France star, however, is now being linked with a move to England.

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool have identified France winger Bradley Barcola as their top target for this summer’s transfer window.

The report claims that the Reds are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements following Andoni Iraola’s appointment as Arne Slo9t’s successor, and Paris Saint-Germain star Barcola has emerged top of their lists.

Barcola joined PSG from fellow French side Lyon in back in 2023 and has since played more than 150 times for his current side in all competitions, scoring 39 goals and providing 37 assists.

The winger’s impressive form earned him a place in Deschamps’ squad for the World Cup, and the 23-year-old has scored three times at the tournament so far.

The report suggests that the Reds have been assessing a number of possible attacking targets and have identified Barcola as their prime target, with their interest in the player likely to increase in the wake of the World Cup.

Despite Liverpool’s interest in Barcola, it is currently clear whether or not PSG would be willing to allow the player to depart the French capital this summer.
