England host Lithuania at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening (17:00), with the Three Lions looking to preserve their unbeaten start to their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification in Group F.

Gareth Southgate’s side, who lost 1-0 in Dortmund to the hands of Germany on Wednesday night in an international friendly, are looking to bounce back instantly with a convincing win over the minnows, who currently sit 107th in the official FIFA World Rankings.

The Three Lions lie two points clear at the top of Group F, ahead of second placed Slovenia, having won three of their opening four qualifiers, defeating rivals Scotland 3-0 last time out at Wembley.

The hosts are looking to extend their impressive qualifying record across the World Cup and European Championship campaigns, having not lost a match since October 2009, going 33 without defeat.

Lithuania are familiar foes for England, as the Three Lions defeated Sunday’s visitors twice during qualification for Euro 2016, winning 4-0 at home and 3-0 away.

So, following on from Wednesday’s loss in Germany, here are THREE players Southgate must drop from his starting XI to ensure England bag all three points against Lithuania…

Jamie Vardy

The defending Premier League champion has looked a shadow of the deadly hitman he was yesteryear, netting just eight times in the top-flight this term.

Vardy looked very isolated in Dortmund in midweek, despite the opposition being incredibly greater than a visiting Lithuania side tomorrow.

Although he did plenty of running, the Leicester City forward offered little threat to the German’s last line of defence.

Step up Jermain Defoe or Marcus Rashford?

Jake Livermore

A surprise starter for England in Dortmund, making his first international appearance since August 2012, though Livermore did not look out of place back in a Three Lions shirt.

The West Brom midfielder had a standard night on his international return, but it was nothing to shout about.

Southgate may opt for someone a little more offensive against Lithuania, with the likes of Jesse Lingard, Ross Barkley and James Ward-Prowse waiting in the wings, with England wanting to net a bundle of goals at Wembley.

Gary Cahill

One decision manager Southgate MUST make ahead of Sunday’s game against Lithuania is deciding who will replace stand-in skipper Gary Cahill, who is suspended for tomorrow’s tie.

Goalkeeper Joe Hart is expected to be named captain ahead of kick-off, with Wayne Rooney left out of this month’s squad, whilst defender Chris Smalling has withdrawn due to injury.

Manchester City defender John Stones is set to come in for the Three Lions, with Burnley’s Michael Keane and Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson, who has received his first senior call-up this week, also vying for starts.
