The Premier League’s early pacesetters Manchester City take on the Scottish Premier League champions, Celtic on Wednesday going in search of a tenth straight win under new boss Pep Guardiola.

City overcame Swansea 3-1 at the weekend to secure a sixth straight league win, and have already opened up a four-point gap over their nearest rivals, Tottenham, in the race for the title.

They’ve also started confidently in Europe, comfortably dispatching Steaua Bucharest 6-0 on aggregate in the qualifying play-off before brushing aside Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 in their first group game.

The same cannot be said of Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic though, who were thumped 7-0 by Guardiola’s former employers Barcelona in game week one.

The former Liverpool manager’s men are unbeaten in the league so far, but know that they face a tough test on Wednesday at Celtic Park.

Guardiola will be without the influential Kevin De Bruyne, who limped off with a hamstring injury against Swansea on Saturday and, with a key game against Tottenham next weekend, the former Bayern Munich manager may look to make some changes for tomorrow’s clash.

Here are THREE City players who should be given a chance against Celtic on Wednesday…

Jesus Navas

The injury to Kevin De Bruyne will open the door for one of the many talented players not currently getting into the City team, and Jesus Navas could be the one who gets the nod on Wednesday.

The Spanish winger started in the win over Borussia Monchengladbach but has since then only started once for Guardiola’s men – in their EFL Cup win at Swansea.

Although he has still yet to hit top form since arriving at The Etihad three years ago, you only have to look at what Guardiola’s appointment has done for Raheem Sterling to suggest that the same could happen to Navas.

Kelechi Iheanacho

The 19-year-old was dropped in favour of Sergio Aguero in City’s win at Swansea on Saturday, despite scoring three goals in four games previous.

There is no doubting that if Aguero is fit then he should get the nod, but Guardiola may be looking at his side’s visit to Tottenham on Sunday when deciding whether to play the Argentine.

Any doubt in the manager’s mind may play into Iheanacho’s hands, as he has proved that he is more than able to lead the line for City such was his excellent displays during Aguero’s spell out due to suspension.

Leroy Sane

Leroy Sane is another player who may look at De Bruyne’s absence as an opportunity to show Guardiola what he can do in this City team.

The talented 20-year-old has only made one start since his £37 million move from Bundesliga side Schalke in August, and that was against Swansea in the EFL Cup last week.

There is no doubting the young winger’s capability – he scored nine goals for Schalke last season – and Guardiola may give him a chance on Wednesday to really showcase his ability for his new club.
